Ex-Heel McCarty added to U.S. men's soccer squad

Former North Carolina soccer player Dax McCarty will join the U.S. men's team for the Beijing Olympics, replacing defender Nathan Sturgis, U.S. Soccer announced today. Sturgis has an injured hamstring, clearing the way for McCarty to make his Olympic debut. McCarty plays for Major League Soccer's FC Dallas and played two years for the Tar Heels before turning pro.
