Despite an early lead for the Panthers, Carolina slugged three home runs for an 8-4 win over Pittsburgh Friday, marking Tar Heels' sixth straight victory and a 4-0 start to ACC play. Home runs by Kristina Burkhardt, Hailey Jensen, and Campbell Hutcherson led the Tar Heels. In addition to Burkhardt and Hutcherson, Leah Murray also logged a multi-hit day.

Taylor Wike Tabbed ACC Softball Player of the Week
Leading North Carolina with six hits, eight RBI and a .462 average, senior Taylor Wike has been named the ACC Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the league office. This is Wike's first weekly honor and second for the Tar Heels in 2018. Wike led North Carolina's offense with an impressive 1.000 slugging percentage and .588 on-base clip.
UNC Softball's Inaugural Win Over Duke
The North Carolina players flooded out of the first-base dugout and rushed toward Kiani Ramsey, eager to celebrate a win that was the first of its kind. And after shaking hands with the defeated visiting Blue Devils, they gathered around the pitcher's circle and continued reveling in the victory as "Hark the Sound" played over the Anderson Stadium speakers.

Carolina Softball Gets Walk-Off Win Against Duke, 2-1
The inaugural meeting between UNC and Duke lived up to the rivalry. The ACC foes pushed the game to nine innings before Kiani Ramsey scored to secure the 2-1 victory Friday. Following the game, outfielder Destiny DeBerry got engaged on the field to cap off the win. With the score tied at one after nine innings, Ramsey set the stage for the walk-off with a leadoff triple.
Heilmann Proves It On the Mat, UNC Olympic Sports Notes
When Troy Heilmann took the mat Saturday for the 149-pound title match at the ACC Wrestling Championships, he had already earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Wrestling Championships. But he still had more he wanted to prove. With a 3-1 decision over Virginia Tech's Ryan Blees, Heilmann did just that, claiming the title in his final match at Carmichael Arena.
UNC Softball Tops Harvard in Carolina Classic Finale
With home runs off the bats of Kristina Burkhardt and Hailey Jensen, North Carolina defeated Harvard, 6-1, to wrap up the Carolina Classic Sunday at Anderson Stadium. Limiting Harvard to three hits, Brittany Pickett threw her ninth complete game of the season while the Tar Heels improve to 7-13. Burkhardt led the Tar Heels, going 4-for-4 at the plate with two RBI.

Led by Brittany Pickett in the circle and Katelyn Shifflett at the plate, North Carolina topped Hampton, 5-0 for the Tar Heels third shutout of the season. With Wednesday's victory, UNC improves to 6-10. Resetting her single-game high to 10 strikeouts, Pickett threw third complete-game shutout of the season, improving to 6-3 on the year. Despite a trio of leadoff hits, North Carolina was unable to overcome No. 24 South Carolina, falling 5-0 to the Gamecocks in Columbia, South Carolina on Tuesday. Historic Weekend For Greg Duncan, Olympic Sports Notes
Competing in the ACC Championships for the first time, freshman Greg Duncan accomplished a feat no North Carolina male diver had achieved in 60 years. Duncan won the three-meter diving competition on Wednesday and the one-meter diving event on Thursday. In doing so, he became the first Tar Heel to sweep the springboard events since 1958.
Carolina Softball Falls to Wisconsin in Weekend Finale
Despite a 9-7 win over the Badgers Saturday, North Carolina could not complete the sweep Sunday as Wisconsin earned the 6-0 decision to conclude the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Taylor Wike's Home Run Sparks UNC Softball Victory Over Illinois
With the scored tied at two in the fifth, a Taylor Wike home run ignited North Carolina's offense to a 6-2 victory over Illinois on Friday night to begin the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. UNC Softball Comes Up Short at Elon
Despite reaching base in all but one inning, North Carolina could not complete the come back at Elon, falling 2-1 to the Phoenix on Wednesday afternoon. The Tar Heels slide to 3-2 while the Phoenix improve to the same mark. Elon put up two runs in the second that Carolina could not overcome despite four Phoenix errors and the Tar Heels' lone run in the fourth inning.
