Kiani Ramsey, Taylor Wike Named to NFCA All-Region Teams

North Carolina's Kiani Ramsey and Taylor Wike were named to the NFCA's Division I Southeast all-region teams as announced Thursday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Ramsey was named to the All-Region second team while Wike picked up third-team honors for the second consecutive year. Ramsey led the Tar Heels with a .374 average.

North Carolina Softball Falls to Pitt in ACC Tournament Semifinal

No. 3 seed North Carolina dropped the ACC Tournament semifinal contest to No. 2 seed Pitt, 3-0 on Friday in Atlanta. UNC threatened with runners in scoring position in the first few innings but Pitt's defense stood strong. Also logging a hit, UNC's Brittany Pickett went the distance in the circle with four strikeouts for her 32nd complete game of the season.

Tar Heels Down Georgia Tech in ACC Softball Tournament Quarterfinal

North Carolina rallied past Georgia Tech, 6-1 on Thursday to clinch the win in the ACC Tournament quarterfinal at Mewborn Field. UNC advances to take on Pittsburgh Friday at 3:30 p.m. Brittany Pickett led the way for Carolina in the circle and at the plate. The sophomore struck out seven while hitting a solo home run and the game-winning RBI-single in the third.

Taylor Wike Highlights Four All-ACC Softball Honorees

Senior Taylor Wike headlines North Carolina's four All-ACC honors as the 2018 Defensive Player of the Year announced Tuesday as voted on by ACC coaches. Wike also garnered all-ACC first team honors in addition to sophomore pitcher Brittany Pickett. Juniors Destiny DeBerry and Kiani Ramsey round out North Carolina's honorees as all-ACC second team selections.

Three Home Runs Propel Carolina Softball to 8-0 Win Over Campbell

Taking a two-run lead in the first inning and slugging three home runs in the game, North Carolina never looked back en route to an 8-0 six inning win over Campbell on Friday night. UNC limited the Camels to two hits to improve to 29-25 on the season. Brittany Pickett led the Tar Heels both at the plate and in the circle. Matching a single-game best of 10 strikeouts.

Brittany Pickett Homers in 5-1 Win over Syracuse

A five-run fifth inning clinched UNC's 5-1 victory over Syracuse in the series opener Friday at Skytop Stadium (Highlights). Cuse took a one-run lead in the fourth before the Tar Heels came back for the win. Brittany Pickett cleared the fence for a three-run homer and a 5-1 lead. Pickett went the distance, striking out seven in her 28th complete game of the season.

Jamie Ortega Stars for UNC Women's Lacrosse, Olympic Sports Notes

With a career-high seven goals and an assist, Jamie Ortega notched a career-high eight points in North Carolina's 20-10 win against Duke over the weekend. The seven goals were one shy of the UNC single-game record of eight set by Kellie Thompson against UMBC in 2002. Saturday's offensive outburst likely bolstered Ortega's ACC Freshman of the Year candidacy.

UNC Softball Tops Georgia Tech in the Series Opener

Despite Georgia Tech scoring first, a four-run fourth inning clinched the 4-2 win for UNC in the series opener over the Yellow Jackets in Atlanta on Friday. Brittany Pickett tossed six strikeouts in her third complete game of the week to improve to 25-9 on the season. Megan Dray led UNC's offense with a two-run double in the fourth while Leah Murray went 2-for-3.

North Carolina Softball Beats ECU, 4-3

With every North Carolina batter recording a hit, the Tar Heels defeated East Carolina, 4-3, Wednesday evening, thanks to Brittany Pickett's go-ahead home run in the sixth inning. Not only did Pickett go the distance in the circle, she sent her fourth home run of the season to center in the sixth inning, securing Carolina's 4-3 win to improve to 26-21 on the season.

Brittany Pickett Reinventing Her Way To Success

After tossing a complete-game shutout against N.C. State in Friday's series opener, Brittany Pickett registered another Monday. By doing so, she became the first Tar Heel to throw two complete-game shutouts in the same ACC series since Lori Spingola against Florida State in 2011. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Pickett's outings were how they differed.

UNC Softball Blanks Wolfpack 8-0 for Series Win

The Tar Heels set the tone early, scoring six runs in the first two innings en route to a 8-0 shutout victory over NC State for the series win on Monday evening. Brittany Pickett not only pitched her second complete-game shutout of the series, but also went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and the game-winning RBI-single in the sixth to tie a single-game career high.

Kenny Selmon waited for the right opportunity to compete in the 400-meter hurdles for the first time this spring. Finally, on Saturday at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational, that time arrived. And in his season debut in the event, Selmon didn't disappoint. Competing in the 400-meter hurdles, Selmon ran a 49.00, the fastest time in the nation so far this outdoor season.

UNC Softball Shuts Out NC State in Series Opener, 6-0

Highlighted by Brittany Pickett's ten strikeouts, North Carolina clinched the series opener over NC State, 6-0, limiting the Wolfpack to four hits on Friday. The Tar Heels scored in the first inning and extended their lead to five in the second to solidify the win and improve to 24-20 and 12-4 in ACC play. Pickett's 10 Ks matched a career single-game high.

Carolina Softball Falls at JMU in Midweek Matchup

Despite Kiani Ramsey's multi-hit game, the Tar Heels dropped a nonconference matchup at James Madison, 9-0 Wednesday. Brittany Pickett made her 25th start in the circle for North Carolina in the loss. Hannah Nommensen struck out one in 2.2 innings of relief. The Tar Heels return home to host NC State for a three-game series Friday, Saturday and Monday.
