Only memories remain of historic Wallace Wade track

The great track at Wallace Wade Stadium is no more. During 80-plus years that saw at least five different surfaces, Duke University played host to 20 world records, but over the years, track audiences have declined and football fans clamor to sit close to the field of play. And so Duke, like Stanford on the west coast, made the difficult decision to build a new track facility apart from its famous stadium.
