While the world was mourning the loss of JFK, the professional sports leagues were in full debate about whether to shut down their operations for the weekend to honour the fallen president, or to proceed as normal. The National Hockey League was a six-team entity back in those days, and didn’t normally schedule games on Friday nights. (Canada.com)
