UNC field hockey chases record seventh title

With six NCAA championships, UNC field hockey is one of the area’s strongest athletic programs. Now the Tar Heels’ success, which includes the 2007 and ’09 national titles and runner-up finishes the past two years, is helping to popularize the sport outside of campus. “I think it’s growing and I would hope our visibility has had something to do to with it,” UNC coach Karen Shelton said.
