Former Tar Heel Blake Russell Claims Spot On Olympic Team

Former Tar Heel distance runner Blake Russell finished third at the US Olympic Marathon Trials in Boston on Sunday to claim the final spot on the US team headed to Beijing, China this summer for the Olympic Games. Russell bounced back after finishing fourth in the trials four years ago, just missing out on the final spot. Several other Tar Heels will be in action in the coming months in preparation for the Olympic Trials later this summer.
