Sarina Wiegman had been recruited by UNC following a chance encounter while representing the Netherlands’ national team. She knew nothing of the American college game. But Wiegman, who will lead England into the World Cup final against Spain on Sunday, quickly learned that in 1989, there was nowhere in women’s soccer quite like Chapel Hill.
