Saskatchewan Roughriders re-sign T.J. Thorpe

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have re-signed international receiver T.J. Thorpe, international offensive lineman Terran Vaughn and international defensive back Melvin White, the team announced Wednesday. Thorpe will remain with the Riders after joining the team in October and spending the final two weeks of the regular season on the team’s practice roster.

T.J. Thorpe finally catches a break after injury-plagued start

T.J. Thorpe has endured more than his fair share of tough breaks. In college, the highly touted wide receiver broke his left foot three times in four years while playing at UNC. When he transferred to Virginia for his senior year, he promptly broke his clavicle and missed another five weeks. This spring in Winnipeg, a tryout with the CFL's Blue Bombers had a rough start, too.

T.J. Thorpe a bright spot for Winnipeg Blue Bombers

He was a bright spot for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, even if he was overshadowed by one of his teammates. T.J. Thorpe caught eight passes for 65 yards in Friday’s loss to the B.C. Lions. Not many would have predicted Thorpe would have a big night. After all, it was his first CFL game after returning from injury. Thorpe had impressed the coaching staff in training camp.

T.J. Thorpe eager to fill void on Winnipeg's special teams

T.J. Thorpe is likely to take any role he can with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. But nothing would be greater than the chance to return kicks — a job he’s been doing since his first day of Pop Warner football. "I love it. I feel like it’s one of the few plays you can change a game or just the momentum of the game with one play, just 10 seconds," he said.

Cam Johnson Transfer Primer

There have been several questions regarding Pitt shooting guard transfer Cam Johnson's eligibility status, particularly as it pertains to UNC. So it seems appropriate to offer a quick rundown on where things stand at the moment.

Redskins sign former UNC, UVa wideout T.J. Thorpe

The Washington Redskins have made yet another roster move according to a report. According to Taylor Vippolis, the Redskins have signed former Virginia and North Carolina wide receiver T.J. Thorpe. After graduating from North Carolina, Thorpe was a graduate transfer for Virginia. In nine games, he hauled in 23 passes for 321 yards.

T.J. Thorpe achieves academic goal; hopes to finish disappointing senior season strong for U.Va.

T.J. Thorpe has perspective uncommon for many college football players. It's the product of a career spent almost constantly trying to rehab or gut his way through an injury, while playing for two Atlantic Coast Conference programs.

Recruiting Storylines: UNC vs UVa

The recruiting trail wasn’t responsible for T.J. Thorpe’s allegiance late-career swap in the 'South’s Oldest Rivalry.' But, it has sent several players to UNC as opposed to Virginia and vice versa. Jeremiah Clarke: Class of ’14, Alexandria (Va.), 4-star, No. 11 DE - After red-shirting last year, Clarke has played in all six games this season, while starting two at defensive tackle for UNC.

What To Watch For: Virginia

Two of Virginia’s four losses, to Notre Dame and Pitt, are by a touchdown each. Last year in Charlottesville, the Tar Heels trailed for nearly 56 minutes before Mitch Trubisky hit T.J. Thorpe for the go-ahead score, and Carolina prevailed, 28-27. You can bet that the Cavaliers haven’t forgotten that game, particularly as the very player that scored that touchdown is now in a Virginia jersey.

For UVA receiver Thorpe, Saturday is homecoming at UNC

North Carolina’s homecoming is still three weeks away, but for at least one Tar Heel alumnus, the memory-filled return to Chapel Hill will come on Saturday. There will even be a reunion of sorts on the field at Kenan Stadium. But while T.J. Thorpe and the former UNC football teammates he once called his brothers will enjoy seeing one another again, the get-together will be anything but a celebration.

UVa receiver Thorpe set for homecoming

T.J. Thorpe’s expression never changed Monday when he said he thought Virginia was playing North Carolina State this year and not the University of North Carolina. “He’s lying,” said Virginia quarterback Matt Johns during a later interview. “There’s no way he didn’t know that. That’s just T.J. being T.J.” After four years at North Carolina, Thorpe should have known — and probably did know — that UVa and UNC play every year as fellow members of the ACC’s Coastal Division.

Virginia's T.J. Thorpe prepares for 'weird' game against UNC

Virginia winning at North Carolina on Saturday would be the largest upset of this ACC football season. The Cavaliers have dropped five straight to the Tar Heels, haven't won a road game since 2012 and are 16.5-point underdogs against the conference's most dynamic offense and improved defense. But this would have been a bigger upset: Virginia not bringing receiver T.J. Thorpe to Monday's weekly media session.

T.J. Thorpe suffers broken clavicle in UVa scrimmage

Virginia wide receiver T.J. Thorpe will be out 10 weeks after breaking his right clavicle during a scrimmage Wednesday afternoon, the school announced. Thorpe transferred to Virginia in the spring semester after playing three seasons at North Carolina. He has 42 career receptions for 574 yards and five touchdowns, though he missed the 2012 season with a broken foot.

UNC Transfer T.J. Thorpe may jolt Virginia's offense

The first time UNC transfer wide receiver T.J. Thorpe stepped onto the field at Scott Stadium as a Virginia player this spring, he walked over to the spot where he caught his game-winning touchdown for the Tar Heels in October. Seeing Thorpe in orange Saturday was a more pleasant sight for Virginia fans. He concluded spring practices with four catches and one touchdown at the Cavaliers’ spring game.

UNC WR T.J. Thorpe Transfers to Virginia

Virginia has received a grant in aid from North Carolina Tar Heels wide receiver T.J. Thorpe, who graduated from UNC in December. Thorpe will be eligible to play immediately and will enroll at Virginia this month and take part in spring practices. As a junior this season, Thorpe reeled in 16 receptions for 237 yards and four touchdowns for UNC.
