Star kicker stays close to home

Scotland County's Jay Wooten, who is ranked among the top 12 place- kickers in the country, was recruited by some of the nation's best college football programs. But he knew his heart belonged in North Carolina. "All my life, I've lived in North Carolina," Wooten said. "My friends are here. My family is here. I want to be here." That's one of the main reasons Wooten turned down overtures from LSU and Penn State to commit to the University of North Carolina.
