UNC motivated by long losing streak

When UNC last beat Virginia in Charlottesville in 1981, UNC coach Butch Davis was just three years removed from his first head coaching job at Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Okla. Davis had downplayed the significance of the Cavaliers’ 14-game home winning streak. But after his team’s 44-10 dismantling of Virginia at Scott Stadium, Davis came clean. “It does [matter],” Davis said.
