UNC quarterback T.J. Yates cleared to throw Posted Apr 8, 2008 A week shy of four months after having shoulder surgery, North Carolina quarterback T.J. Yates threw 25-30 passes during a light throwing session during the Tar Heels penultimate spring practice session on Monday. An MRI after the season showed that Yates suffered "tissue trauma" - a small hole was developing, according to team doctors - in a ligament in his throwing (right) shoulder at the end of the 2007 season.
