Battle for defensive end Sam Montgomery heating up
Posted Jan 30, 2009
While it's still a situation where anything could happen, several reliable sources have said that the recruitment of Under Armour All-American defensive end Sam Montgomery (Greenwood, S.C./Greenwood) focuses on three programs: North Carolina, LSU and Michigan. Most believe the Tar Heels and Tigers to be the frontrunners.
South Carolina, Clemson, Oregon and Tennessee appear to be out, though there is conflicting information out there about Montgomery's scheduled trip to Knoxville this weekend. Should the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder make the visit, then there is a good chance the Vols could wedge their way in there and make things interested come National Signing Day on Wednesday.
