Golden Moment: North Carolina edges Notre Dame

North Carolina played just well enough for just long enough to beat Notre Dame, 29-24, on Saturday night in front of a decidedly partisan, if not united, crowd of 60,500. The Tar Heels established what proved to be an efficient running game, then later turned to a consistent passing game. They allowed more than 470 yards of offense, but none when it mattered most. And they knocked off the vaunted Fighting Irish for the first time in 48 years.
