Adding 12th game to bring hope, headaches


Division 1-AA programs are the 12th-game opponents of choice for at least two ACC teams in 2006. North Carolina will face Furman and N.C. State added Appalachian State. But the Tar Heels and Wolfpack have done more than just prop themselves up with what appear to be easy and heretofore meaningless victories. In approving the 12th game, the NCAA also allowed I-A schools to count one victory against I-AA schools toward bowl eligibility. (Charlotte Observer)
