UNC improves to 12-11 all-time vs. Miami, including 7-3 at home against the Hurricanes. The Tar Heels have won the last three games against Miami. This was the 19th time in the last three seasons UNC has scored 30 or more points. Mack Brown improves to 263-135-1 overall, including an 88-59-1 record in 13 seasons as UNC's head coach.

Josh Downs has now scored a touchdown in eight consecutive games, tying Javonte Williams (2020) and Gio Bernard (2012) for the second-longest touchdown streak in school history. Charlie "Choo Choo" Justice scored in nine straight games between the 1947 and 1948 seasons.
Josh Downs caught a touchdown pass for the eighth game in a row dating back to last season and has a team-leading eight for the season. It was also the seventh-straight game he made at least eight receptions, the longest streak since Davante Adams of Fresno State had at least eight catches in nine-straight games in 2013.
Josh Downs grabbed a career-high 11 receptions. It is the most by a UNC player against Miami and the most by a UNC sophomore in a single game in program history.
Ty Chandler registered his second 100-yard rushing game of the season with 104 yards on 18 carries and scored two rushing touchdowns for the second week in a row and the third time in 2021. He leads the team with seven rushing touchdowns on the season.
Chandler scored two rushing touchdowns in the first half of a game for the first time since Oct. 28, 2017, against Kentucky.
Chandler's 51-yard touchdown run was the second time he has run for 50 yards or more on a single play this season, and the fifth occurrence in his career. He went for 60 yards against Virginia earlier this season.
Tomon Fox notched his 24th career sack and is now tied for third in UNC history in career sacks alongside Marcus Jones (1992-95) and Quinton Coples (2008-11).
John Copenhaver caught his first career touchdown pass, a 2-yard pass from Sam Howell in the second quarter.
Justin Olson made his first career start at wide receiver and had two targets.
Cedric Gray hauled in the first two interceptions of his career and became the first Tar Heel to have multiple interceptions in a game since Myles Wolfolk had a pair in the 2019 season opener against South Carolina at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

UNC's defense gave up 80 yards of offense in the first half. It was the least amount of yards given up by the Tar Heels in the first half this season and the least since 2018 against Miami.
