Carey and Edwards a winning ticket for Tar Heels
Posted Sep 7, 2005
North Carolina has decided two key position battles and left one open-ended heading into Saturday's season-opening game at Georgia Tech. Senior Mahlon Carey has moved ahead of Trimane Goddard at strong safety and will start against the 17th-ranked Yellow Jackets, while junior Larry Edwards has pushed past Jeff Longhany at strong-side linebacker. "They won the job, earned the position through their play in training camp," North Carolina coach John Bunting said.
