Penalties nullify efforts

oo many times Saturday, North Carolina's Tar Heels were reeling back on their heels because of penalties. On their first punt return, they were flagged for blocking in the back. Then coach John Bunting protested too vigorously and drew a 15-yard walk-off. That was only the beginning of football's version of "drop-the-handkerchief." (Raleigh News & Observer)
