Steelers Jeff Reed has gold toe

The day the Pittsburgh Steelers put their former kicker on injured reserve, they staged a kickoff tryout between three unheralded wannabes. Although none excelled, former UNC kicker fared the best and was signed. The next day when Pittsburgh coach Bill Cowher was asked why Reed was signed, he said, "Uh. Good question. I don't know if I can answer that right now. But he's our kicker." Ever since, Reed has developed into one of the most reliable kickers in the NFL, especially when the game is on the line.
