Improved defense lifts Heels to victory
Mon Oct 24, 2005
David Wooldridge’s punt was rolling dead and time was running out on No. 23 Virginia when North Carolina receiver Mike Mason, in a moment of exuberance, booted the ball through Kenan Stadium’s East end zone. He was flagged for an illegal-kicking penalty, and the Tar Heels were forced to run one last play. Quarterback Matt Baker took a knee. No harm done.
