Tranquill says end is near
Posted Oct 26, 2005
North Carolina offensive coordinator Gary Tranquill, the mastermind behind the Tar Heels' attack the past five years, said Tuesday he will retire after this season. Unlike last winter, head coach John Bunting probably won't be able to change his mind this time, 65-year-old Tranquill said. "No, I'm done,'' said Tranquill, who has pondered retirement several times over the past decade. "... Forty-four years is good. It's time to go fishing."
