Tar Heels named to the 2023 All-ACC Softball Academic Team include Lilli Backes, Skyler Brooks, Kenna Raye Dark, Isabela Emerling, Caroline Fox, Lexi Godwin, Talia Hannappel, Kianna Jones, Kiersten Licea, Bailey McCachren, Destiny Middleton, Carlie Myrtle, Carsyn Snead, and Bri Stubbs. Corey Lyons Joins UNC Softball Staff

North Carolina softball head coach announced the addition of assistant coach Corey Lyon to her staff on Tuesday afternoon. Lyon comes to UNC after spending the last five seasons as an assistant coach at Marshall. Megan Smith Lyon Announced As UNC's New Softball Coach

UNC will hire former Tar Heels player as its softball coach, according to Extra Innings Softball. Smith Lyon, a 1999 UNC graduate, has spent the last five seasons at Marshall, where her teams went 160-70. Donna J. Papa Retires After 38 Seasons As UNC Softball Coach

Donna J. Papa, the fifth-longest tenured head coach in any sport in University of North Carolina history and the sixth-winningest in NCAA softball history, announced her retirement on Thursday afternoon as head coach of the Tar Heels. Papa led UNC for 38 of her 40 seasons as a head coach and compiled 1,339 of her 1,368 victories while in Chapel Hill. (GoHeels.com)
