To find Alex White's locker at Coors Field, take a left and head back to the corner. He's hard to miss, standing 6-foot-3 and weighing about 225 pounds. Dustin Ackley's family talks about his rise to the Mariners

The folks in Walnut Cove, population 1,500 give or take, can vividly recall Dustin Ackley's first high-school home run as a freshman for the powerful South Stokes team during the 2003 state tournament. Healthy Alex White strong in AA rehab start

Twins sign first-round pick Levi Michael

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have signed their first round pick from the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, infielder Levi Michael. Michael played shortstop for the University of North Carolina, where he batted .289 (70-for-242) with 14 doubles, three triples, five home runs and 48 rbi in 65 games for the Tar Heels. (MLB.com)

Brian Goodwin signs with Nats

The Nationals have signed sandwich round pick Brian Goodwin to a contract worth $3 million. Goodwin, a center fielder, was selected No. 34 overall in June’s Major League Baseball draft. There were some character issues that came up last season, also. Goodwin committed an academic infraction while at North Carolina and transferred to Miami Dade Junior College. (Examiner.com)

Mariners' Kyle Seager overcame open-heart surgery as infant

Kyle Seager didn't plan on opening up to a complete stranger about a part of his life he'd kept largely to himself. The Mariners third baseman once wore T-shirts to the beach to hide the scar from the open heart surgery he'd had as a 5-month-old infant. He rarely volunteered information on it other than at checkups or when undergoing medical tests. (Seattle Times)
