Theo Pinson continues workouts with NBA teams

Theo Pinson continues to work out for NBA teams ahead of the 2018 draft. Pinson has worked out for the Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves and has future workouts set with the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets. Pinson will workout for the Knicks on June 12th, two weeks before the NBA Draft. His workout date with Houston is still undetermined.

UNC athletes make a snail mail connection with young fans

After months of letters back and forth, Kayshawn Farrington and Edgar Balderasrosas were ready to meet their pen pals. They are among hundreds of local elementary school students paired with UNC athletes in a snail mail exchange. Edgar hoped to bond with Theo Pinson, who said the program helps keep players grounded and connected to the younger generation.

If there’s a player more excited this week than Theo Pinson about being in uniform at the NBA Draft Combine, that’s an upset. The North Carolina senior wasn’t initially invited to the event in preparation for the June 21 draft. Then, he got a call Monday to pack for this week of 5-on-5 games, physical measurements and drills conducted by veteran NBA coaches.

At the NBA Draft Combine on Thursday, Theo Pinson measured 6-foot-6.75-inches tall without shoes. He was 211 pounds with 7.35 percent body fat and a wingspan of 6-foot-10.75. During the scrimmage portion of the Combine, Pinson played 22 minutes and was 2-for-4 from the field and 0-for-2 from three point range with 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 turnovers.

Four Corners: Graduation & Summer School

Tar Heels Joel Berry II, Kane Ma, Theo Pinson and Aaron Rohlman are now officially North Carolina graduates. Most of the returning players for the 2018-19 Tar Heels are taking summer classes in both summer sessions while also working out and playing pickup games with the annual pilgrimage of former Carolina basketball players returning to Chapel Hill.

Good news for Theo, and it’s the best news for Luke Maye. Theo Pinson’s hard work developing from an elite athlete into a great college basketball player will have its just rewards. Pinson was a late invitee to the NBA Combine in Chicago, where he can show off his high-caliber defense and hope some team recognizes how far he has come as a scorer and facilitator.

Theo Pinson’s career in Chapel Hill was highlighted by back-to-back national title appearances as a sophomore and junior, with a championship coming in 2017. He earned All-ACC honorable mention and was a driving force behind the 118 wins that the Tar Heels earned during his college career. But now, Pinson can add one more thing to his resume: college graduate.

Theo Pinson Receives Late Invitation to 2018 NBA Draft Combine

Despite being left off the initial list of players invited to the 2018 NBA Draft Combine, UNC graduate Theo Pinson found out Monday that it’s better late than never. Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reported Monday that Pinson has received an invitation, as one of the players originally on the short list of alternates. The Combine will be held in Chicago from May 16-20.

Tar Heel Trio Snubbed from NBA Draft Combine

With the NBA Draft Combine, to be held in Chicago May 16-20, approaching, a list of the 69 players invited was released over the weekend. Notably missing, however, are UNC seniors Joel Berry and Theo Pinson–as well as junior forward Luke Maye, who announced his intentions a little over two weeks ago to enter the draft process without hiring an agent.

ACC Barnstorming Tour Brings a Big Crowd to Watauga High School

The team of varsity boys and girls players, as well as coaches and even the school principal suited up for the game to take on ACC standouts Joel Berry, Al Freeman, Theo Pinson and others in a night of fun hoops. The Barnstormers team, coached by former UNC star Phil Ford, gave fans plenty to cheer for with three-point baskets and rim-rocking dunks.

Four Corners: Offseason Training Underway

The 2018-19 UNC basketball team has begun offseason conditioning work at the Smith Center, working with strength and conditioning coordinator Jonas Sahratian and assistant James Ayscue to begin preparations for next season. The academic year will wrap up soon, with pending graduations next month for Joel Berry, Kane Ma, Theo Pinson and Aaron Rohlman.

As Joel Berry and Theo Pinson took pictures by the Old Well in their Carolina blue cap and gowns complete with full North Carolina uniforms underneath and Jordans on their feet, the realization of the senior duo leaving UNC became more real than ever. Berry and Pinson's career was highlighted by the 2017 National Championship in their win over Gonzaga.
