Blythe decided to do the book after a New York editor walked in and found him curled on the floor in the fetal position, watching a Duke-North Carolina game on television. He was so caught up in the melee on the tube that he didn't realize paper clips were stuck to his face. What I found extraordinary about Blythe's declaration of Duke-North Carolina being the greatest rivalry -- yes, even over Alabama-Auburn -- is that he once lived in Tuscaloosa. It must have been during the Bill Curry years.
