North Carolina hoping home field advantage pays off

Thursday, June 01, 2006

North Carolina is hosting its first regional baseball tournament in 23 years and hoping that the advantage will help them move through to the next round of the NCAA tournament. The Tar Heels open up play Friday at Boshamer Stadium joined by Winthrop, UNC-Wilmington and Maine. North Carolina was a contender to receive one of the eight national seeds in the tournament until they went 0-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament last week. (Charlotte Observer)
