Tar Heels smash up Winthrop

To say Jay Cox and North Carolina are "in the zone" would be an understatement. The Tar Heels defeated the Winthrop Eagles 14–4 at Boshamer Stadium on Saturday. Cox followed his 3–for–4 performance vs. Maine on Friday with another 3–for–4 performance, but this time he hit two home runs, both to the deepest part of center field. In two regional games, Cox has nine RBIs, six runs scored, six hits, and three home runs in eight at-bats. (Rocky Mount Telegram)
