Hugh Morton's photos also provided a breathtaking view
Posted Jun 5, 2006
In 1982, Morton took this picture inside the Superdome in New Orleans. The most startling thing about the shot is that it came after North Carolina edged Georgetown, 63-62, in one of the most thrilling NCAA championship games ever. This was how the Tar Heels looked after Michael Jordan's jumper and James Worthy's steal of Fred Brown's pass -- when the world had stopped watching for a moment, but Morton hadn't. The four men in that cinderblock room look totally spent and lost in their own thoughts.
