Tar Heels are poised for run at CWS title

Shutouts in the world of college baseball and aluminum bats are rare, but Robert Woodard pulled off the improbable Sunday by pitching North Carolina to a 2-0 victory over top-seeded Clemson at the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. North Carolina (52-13) will try to finish the first part of the job by defeating Cal State Fullerton (50-14) today for a spot in the national-championship series. (Winston-Salem Journal)
