NC State coach Dave Doeren and athletics director Debbie Yow have been engaged in a protracted and somewhat contentious standoff over his contract extension negotiations in recent days, multiple people with knowledge of the situation reported, a staredown that is connected to Doeren’s involvement in multiple coaching searches, including Tennessee and previously Ole Miss.
