Miller will join Tigers for stretch run

Saturday, August 05, 2006

The Detroit Tigers added a left-handed reliever for the stretch run Friday. The trick is, he's their first-round draft pick. Tigers officials raved after June's First-Year Player Draft that Andrew Miller had a potential Major League-ready arm, and they'll soon get a chance to find out. The contract is worth just under $5.5 million with a reported bonus of $3.5 million. More intriguingly, it includes a callup to the Tigers in September. (MLB.com)
