Arnold starting over

A year ago, UNC's Cooter Arnold became only the second freshman running back since 1946 to start the first game of the season. He hopes to open this season as a starter again -- but this time, at strong safety. Arnold switched from offense to defense in the spring and could move up the depth chart with junior Trimane Goddard sidelined for the season with a broken bone in a foot. Senior D.J. Walker, who is expected to replace Goddard, missed Wednesday's practice with bruised ribs. (Raleigh News & Observer)
