They had dinner on the carpet, and not the hardwood floor. But it didn’t matter. It wasn’t an ordinary dining room, anyway, but a vast arena floor covered in soft, green artificial turf. And it wasn’t an ordinary meal, either, as 10 members of N.C. State’s 1974 national championship basketball team were honored at the Greensboro Sports Council’s annual Fred Barakat Sports Dinner tonight.
