Everyone was watching last season when Connor Barth suffered through the first kicking slump of his life, missing eight of his first 11 field-goal attempts. The miscues began with a technical malfunction: He wasn't spacing his pre-kick footsteps consistently every time he took three steps back, then two to his left. It sounds simple enough, but it can be the difference between three points or zero.
