'Canes expect test for run defense

Friday, October 06, 2006

Coach Larry Coker believes that Miami will get a chance to truly test its run defense this Saturday against North Carolina. The Hurricanes (2-2) have been using linebackers and safety Brandon Meriweather as part of the nickel package in the past four games because opposing teams have been using more of an air attack. "Their running game is key," Coker said. "Their offensive line they're big and they have those zone schemes. [Ronnie] McGill is an outstanding running back. We have to do a good job and make sure we're explosive."
