Opponent Spotlight: Matt Grothe

It came as no surprise to the South Florida coaches that Matt Grothe beat our veteran senior Pat Julmiste for the starting job at quarterback this year. Bulls’ coach Pat Leavitt said before the season he was looking for more consistency at the position, and Grothe has exceeded his expectations. So promising last spring was Grothe, a 6-0, 200-pound redshirt freshman, that the three remaining quarterbacks on the team were moved to other positions.
