UNC initiative will combat opioid use disorders and overdose deaths

A new research initiative at UNC will seek to combat the opioid epidemic by helping reduce barriers to rural physicians treating opioid use disorders in North Carolina. The project is the first focus of a new effort to increase North Carolinian’s access to specialty care through a medical education model that gives rural health practitioners access to resources not usually available to them.
