Dan Monson's first Long Beach State squad was one of the worst in college basketball. The 2007-08 49ers won just six games and finished 3-13 in the Big West. But Monson, who laid the foundation for Mark Few's dynasty at Gonzaga and took Minnesota to the NCAA tournament in 2005, is a proven winner, and it didn't take long for him to win at Long Beach.
