Dr. Bruce Cairns: Second Chances and Serving Others

On Friday, September 18, 2015, as the sun rose on another beautiful Chapel Hill morning, I was on the treadmill at the UNC Wellness Center at Meadowmont, when out of the blue, I suddenly collapsed and died. To be more precise, I suffered cardiac arrest (also known as “clinical death”). As a result, I have had an opportunity to deeply reflect on my life and career.
