Kenan expansion in planning stage

North Carolina athletics director Dick Baddour hopes the university eventually will tear down the old football field house, fill in the east end zone with academic support space, and add luxury boxes to the south side of Kenan Stadium. But Baddour said it could take a while. Although the Chapel Hill Town Council on Monday approved a plan that would add about 8,800 seats to the stadium, Baddour said there are a "whole lot of steps" the plan has to go through before construction can begin.
