Williams still has Smith as best ever

On the strength of Texas Tech's 70-68 victory over New Mexico on Monday, Bob Knight passed Dean Smith to become the winningest coach in the history of NCAA Division I men's basketball. But that doesn't necessarily make Knight the best coach in the history of the sport. "Just understand that nobody will ever beat Coach Smith for me," said UNC coach Roy Williams, who was an assistant for Smith from 1978-88. (Durham Herald-Sun)
