Who is the better coach...Bobby Knight or Dean Smith?

’s 879 wins came in five fewer seasons than Bob Knight’s 880. Knight’s three NCAA titles to Smith’s two isn’t a big enough difference to settle the argument. While both have coached in 27 NCAA tournaments, Smith’s record of consecutive 20-win seasons (27) and his string of consecutive Sweet 16 appearances (13) is a record of consistency that Knight can’t approach. He guided his Tar Heels to the Final Four 11 times, while Knight got Indiana there just five times. (New Bern Sun Journal)
