Fifty Shades of Blue: Tar Heels Seek the Truest Hue

UNC claims to have isolated a single, official Carolina blue. The exact color is Pantone 542. This new Carolina blue, unveiled last year, matches the Carolina blue of the basketball uniforms. It is almost indistinguishable from Pantone 278, the old Carolina blue, except when they are next to each other, in which case they are as much alike as black and gold. (Wall Street Journal)
