When UNC freshman Deon Thompson learned Saturday that he would make his first career start, against No. 17 Arizona, his face split into a grin. That he did, scoring a career-high 14 points in place of starter Brandan Wright, who was sidelined by a stomach ailment. (Raleigh News & Observer)
