Duke named former North Carolina assistant Danny Pearman to the Blue Devils' staff on Saturday. Pearman was on the Alabama staff from 1990-97 and was an assistant on the Crimson Tide's national championship team in 1992. He coached at Virginia Tech under Frank Beamer for eight seasons. He came to Chapel Hill before the 2006 season to coach defensive ends, but was not retained by new Tar Heels coach Butch Davis.
