ECU starting quarterback Kurt Benkert out for season with torn ACL

Just a week after Kurt Benkert was named East Carolina's starting quarterback, the redshirt sophomore saw his season end before it began. Benkert suffered a torn ACL during Tuesday's practice, opening the vacant quarterback position once again after the graduation of three-year starter Shane Carden. The Cape Coral, Fla., native went down trying to make a cut in the open field running full speed. (247 Sports)
