North Carolina needs a leap on defense

The Tar Heels have done no better than a split of their first four games in any of Fedora's three seasons, and had to scramble to become bowl-eligible after starting 1-5 in 2013 and 2-4 last season. With two FCS opponents and a visit from Illinois in September, Carolina should be no worse than 3-1 in the season's first month. But it also has to get seven victories to qualify for the postseason.
