Austin Nichols leaving Memphis, Tigers denying transfer request
Posted Jul 7, 2015
Junior forward Austin Nichols is leaving the Memphis basketball program, his father, Mark Nichols, told CBSSports.com on Tuesday. Austin Nichols averaged 13.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game last season before suffering a season-ending injury. He projected as the Tigers' top returning player. The school formally denied the release Tuesday. "And they did not give us a reason," Mark Nichols said. "So now we're going to have to appeal that decision and maybe hire a lawyer."
