Tar Heels would run "through a brick wall" for Guthridge

Bill Guthridge was Dean Smith's right-hand man, a loyal assistant who had opportunities to go and run his own program but remained in Chapel Hill and helped Smith build a dynasty during their 30 years together. When Smith stepped down after the 1997 season, Guthridge took over and the program didn't suffer during his three years in charge.
