Farewell to Dean Smith was celebration, not memorial

Dean Smith didn't suffer many losses in his legendary career as North Carolina's basketball coach. The building in which his public memorial was held Sunday is a testament to one of them. An intensely humble man who always believed in the concept of "we" over "me," Smith fought hard to keep the folks in Chapel Hill from naming their new basketball arena in his honor when it first opened in 1986.
