Pride has been the only real thing at stake in most of the 16 football meetings between East Carolina and North Carolina. Sure, the Pirates gained a bit of notoriety for blasting the Tar Heels 55-31 last season en route to a 10-3 finish. But there's never been a conference championship or bowl bid at stake in the series, or even a national ranking threatened.
